The International Organization for Migration (IOM) BiH and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) BiH, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina (MLJPI) and with the support of the Government of Switzerland, are currently implementing the “Diaspora for Development” project.
One of the key activities of this project is diaspora mapping, a research initiative that will be conducted in Austria, Australia, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the USA. This study aims to gather valuable information on the socio-economic profile of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian diaspora, including demographic, sociological, economic, and socio-cultural data.
Based on the findings of this diaspora mapping, a set of policy recommendations will be developed to support decision-makers in Bosnia and Herzegovina and destination countries. These recommendations will aim to improve interaction and cooperation with the BiH diaspora, as well as create policies and conditions that make contributions to BiH’s development more attractive and feasible.
The results of this research will also be used to establish a knowledge transfer mechanism in BiH, develop a crowdsourcing platform, and further engage the diaspora in BiH’s economic development.
We kindly invite diaspora organizations that unite people of BiH origin and their descendants, as well as individuals from BiH living in the above-listed countries, to participate in the survey by completing the questionnaire and submitting their responses by November 10, 2017.
We sincerely appreciate your support!
