Our Director of Research, Nermin Oruč participated in the Online debate organized by the Journal Southeastern Europe (SEEU), held on 15th December 2021. The debate brought together the contributors of the issues 43.3 and 45.2 of the Journal. The moderator of the debate was Teresa Albano from OSCE, while the discussants were Marco Borraccetti from the University of Bologna and Danica Šantić from the University of Belgrade.
Nermin presented a paper “Are Forced Migrants More Skilled? A Theoretical Model of Self-Selection in Forced Migration” co-authored with Ian Jackson and Geoffrey Pugh, which is published in the journal special issue 43.3. This article fills a gap in theories of forced migration by presenting a new model, motivated by specific features of forced migration during a conflict that does not feature in existing migration models. The article can be found here.
