The Western Balkans Migration Network (WB-MIGNET) was founded in response to the growing need for regional cooperation and knowledge-sharing on migration-related issues in the Western Balkans. Established in 2016, WB-MIGNET emerged from a collaborative effort between leading research institutions and migration experts across the region, recognizing the importance of evidence-based policymaking in addressing migration challenges.
Since its inception, WB-MIGNET has facilitated numerous research initiatives, policy dialogues, and capacity-building workshops, bringing together a wide range of stakeholders to explore topics such as labour migration, migration governance, diaspora engagement, and human rights. The network has become a trusted partner in regional and international migration discussions, working closely with government bodies, international organizations, and civil society to inform and shape sustainable migration policies. With a strong foundation of collaborative partnerships and a commitment to advancing knowledge, WB-MIGNET continues to expand its reach and impact, positioning itself as a key driver of migration research and policy development in the Western Balkans.
